Our rooms were created with comfort and care for our guests,
many of whom have travelled a great distance to be with us. One
of our goals is to create a space that encourages sharing and
learning from our cultural experience and environment.
Each of the guest rooms are named after animals home to this
part of the world. The first floor reflects animals such as the
beaver - “amiskw”, and the rabbit - “waapush”.
The second floor of the ecolodge, is dedicated to birds such as
the bald eagle - “michisuuch“, and ptarmigan - “wapihyou“.
Written in Cree on each guest room door, the “y” dialect
is prominent in the lodge as one of the local Cree dialects in
Moosonee and Moose Factory. This dialect from the east coast James
Bay is only one of many found among Cree people throughout Canada.
